The Island’s Best Walks and Hiking Trails

Arthur Bay Lookout

From the Forts Walk Carpark – 2.1 km return = 35 minutes From the Forts Walk car park on Horseshoe Bay Road, follow the road down to Arthur Bay, but don’t head towards the beach!

Heritage Track – Arcadia to Nelly Bay

This walk runs parallel to the Gabul Way footpath on the main road from Arcadia to Nelly Bay.

Horseshoe Bay to Radical Bay

This track takes you through the Eycalupt Forrest to one of the most popular beaches on Magnetic Island.

Seachlight Tower Track

Searchlight Tower Track 540m 15 minutes from Radical Bay Road. This short track is located along the Radical bay Road.

Nelly Bay to Arcadia

The track begins through a cool patch of rainforest and proceeds into a steady climb to the saddle of the ridge with beautiful views through to Horseshoe Bay. The walk continues along the ridge through open eucalypt forest then down into Arcadia.

Arcadia to Horseshoe Bay

This track begins at the end of Endeavour Road in Arcadia and is also the start of the track to Nelly Bay.

Horseshoe Bay to Balding Bay

Horseshoe Bay to Balding Bay = 3km / 45 minutes. The walking track begins at the end of the beach past the Marlin Bar in Horseshoe Bay.

Hawkings Point

This is one of the island’s shortest walks with an exeptional view.

The Forts

The Forts Walk Track 2km 1.5 hours return. The track starts near the Radical Bay turnoff. It winds its way along the ridge with good views above Arthur and Florence Bays.

Picnic Bay to West Point

At the end of the track you will find West Point Beach where you can take in the beautiful sunset view.

Gabul Way – Arcadia to Nelly Bay

Gabul Way walkway runs along the main road between the two bays and offers beautiful views over Geoffrey Bay in Arcadia.

Horseshoe Bay Lagoon

Horseshoe Bay Lagoon is a popular area for bird watching. The short track begins on Horseshoe Bay Road about 200m from the beach and leads to a lagoon where a number of waterbirds can be seen from the walkway that passes over the water.
